Zen Brush Originals – Japanese Shikishi
Zen Brush Originals – Japanese Shikishi
Discover a quiet piece of Japan’s past.
These original hand-painted shikishi artworks were found inside a traditional home in Japan, preserved for years and untouched by the modern market. Each piece is painted on authentic shikishi board using classic ink and watercolor techniques, capturing the simplicity and elegance of traditional Japanese art.
The artist remains largely unknown, and it’s likely these works were created decades ago. With no records and no reproductions, what exists here is finite. A small collection quietly waiting to be appreciated again.
Each artwork is:
- 100% original and hand-painted
- Signed and stamped by the artist
- Created on traditional Japanese shikishi board
- Unique, with natural variations between similar designs
You may notice some pieces share similar subjects, such as seasonal plants, animals, or calligraphy. These were painted individually by hand, not reproduced, which means no two are exactly the same.
Some of them even have a personal note or haiku written in calligraphy by the artist on the back of the Shikishi board.
Limited Collection
We have only 43 pieces available, all created by the same artist.
Once they are gone, they are gone permanently. Orders will be sent out at random.
Why This Is Special
In a world of mass production, these artworks represent something increasingly rare:
real, physical pieces of an artist’s life and practice, preserved by chance and rediscovered.
Whether displayed in your home, studio, or workspace, each piece carries a sense of calm, history, and quiet craftsmanship.
